Songs I'm Liking Right Now

Buy This CD...Today.

I recently found a new favorite artist, Mika. Yesterday, on a trip to Best Buy, with my Mom, I found the cd. It's relatively new, 2007. And this is his first album.

The music is funky, but deep. I hear a little hint of James Blunt and a touch of Flight of The Concords. With a sprinkle of Queen. Yikes, that is a description.

I am so hooked on the cd that I'm sure Tom will know all the words by the end of this weekend. It's different.

There is one song that totally gets me. They lyrics are really strong and the music is almost so cool, it's eery. I love it. I love finding music that fits me.

Any Other World lyrics

In any other world
You could tell the difference
And let it all unfurl
Into broken ruminants

Smile like you mean it
And let yourself let go

Cos it's all in the hands of a bitter, bitter man
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
Take a bow, play the part of a lonely lonely heart
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
To the world you thought you lived in

I tried to live alone
But lonely is lonely, alone
So human as I am
I had to give up my defenses

So I smiled and tried to mean it
To let myself let go

Cos it's all in the hands of a bitter, bitter man
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
Take a bow, play the part of a lonely lonely heart
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
To the world you thought you lived in

Cos it's all in the hands of a bitter, bitter man
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
Take a bow, play the part of a lonely lonely heart
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
To the world you thought you lived in

Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in [x2]
Say goodbye

In any other world
You could tell the difference

[Spoken]
"I never ever forget my story.

The words, "Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in", actually hurt. How painful is that thought?

Well, I can tell you first hand...It's painful. There isn't much worse a feeling than looking back and realizing that you thought you lived in one world, but the reality is, the world you were in was nothing like what you thought.

Sometimes, I think, your imagination helps you create a false world. Then one day you wake up and realize that it is just you and your imagination, alone.

But, there is an upside to this. When you get past living in a world, that wasn't what you thought it was, you have the chance to learn and begin again. Start a new world, but this time, be in the moment. Not the moment before, or the moments to come.

I never, ever will forget my story. Because if I did, I wouldn't remember how painful it can be to say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in. And to remind myself to always be aware of now.

When you find that you and your imagination have created a world no one knows exists, you will realize that's because it doesn't exist. Even for you.

Using your imagination as way to protect yourself, and the world you think you live in isn't healthy. So say goodbye to your imagination, in that form. Then, you will be able to use your imagination, as it is supposed to used...creatively.

Maybe even to make jewelry, to take pictures or even to blog.
