Us

I've been working on this piece for the past week, in drips and drabs.

I started with a canvas block.
Painted it blue.
Then wasn't thrilled with it.
So, I took a photo of Tom and a photo of Me and I cut it up(sort of mosaic-ish).
Then used gel to attached it to the canvas.
Then I surrounded it in layers of Gel Bead.

I love Golden's gel bead.

It dries to a hard, beaded looking, crystalish, foamish, texture. I must have did about 5 coats before I got it to where I wanted it to be.

And then I decided the two pictures needed something to tie them together so I added a piece of a vintage, rusty screen. And added more bead gel.

It takes a while for the coats to dry, but you can really "play" with this stuff. You can use different tools to texturize it and put it on thick or thin, depending on the look your after. You can also add pigment to it(and I'm sure there is a lot more you can do too).

This little piece was a lot of fun and is meaningful. It's also very inspiring to watch how your ideas unfold as you go.
