She wore the right dress. Put her makeup on just right. Smiled the right smile. But, she did these things, not to stand out. But instead, so that she would not be noticed.
The best camoflague couldn't disguise her. She couldn't hide. They knew. They always knew. She wasn't one of them. And, as time so often does, it carried her to the truth. And she sees now, fitting in is never as beautiful as standing out.
