Something New

I made something new this past week. It was messy, hands on, and I love it. I'm not sure I've ever made something I love this much.

Ingredients:a vintage book cover, plaster, paint, dried flowers(from my garden) and encaustic wax, my words.

I'm going to get some vintage-ish clips to hang it on the wall. I will also make a good scan so I can list it on Society 6.

Yeah, for trying new things!!!

Gift Of Time

He said, he needed nothing, but she knew he needed the gift of time.

Until Then...

Until then, she said, as the door to what could be, closed behind her.

She waited, hoping that a flurry of his love would open that door again so that she could have the chance, to revisit his world.

Our House

I made this tonight, for the new kitchen. I'm pretty sure the colors will coordinate well with the cabinets and counters. And I'm positive the words are a great match to our life.

To anyone that says what you want, doesn't exist, tell them they are ridiculous. Because it does. It really does. You just have to figure out how to get there.
And once your there, you have to work really, really hard to keep it there. Because if it's really what you want, it will be worth every moment you put into it.

That it how I feel about my home life.

These are the words, that will hang in my kitchen. And hang in my heart.

Used To Be

Some Texture Makes All The Difference

I love texture. Can you tell? It's a major element in all my photographs and also in things I make. Maybe it's because texture is so imperfect. Just like me!!!

Last year, I joined a fabulous Etsy group "Female Photographer's of Etsy.

Our group collaborated(with the direction of an amazing group of FPOE ladies)and made our first book. The book features the photography and bios of 58(out of our 200) members from across the globe. You can find me in this book.

This project was fun, from start to finish. And I'm so grateful for the opportunity to work with such talent. For more about the book and how to purchase a copy, go here....http://www.blurb.com/books/1212605.

Aunt Theresa and Uncle Billy

Meet Aunt Theresa and Uncle Billy, my Mom's Aunt and Uncle. Married for over 50 years, they passed away almost two years ago, weeks apart.

They are such a great story. They adored each other. Stuck by each other. Lived simply, but were rich in love.

I love this picture and had to make something with it.

-I attached it to a paper subtrate
-Surrounded it in stucco patch
-And then painted the stucco silver
-Then added a ribbon for a hanging.

Using stucco patch is new for me, so here is my first try.

I gave it to my Mom tonite, in hopes that it will make her smile.

What are you up to this weekend?

Introducing "You Fill The Frame Earrings"

I love ornate. I love vintage. I love pictures. And I love stories.

And I love making jewelry.

Combine all that, mix in the thought of desire to find my own place in the jewelry market on Etsy, the want of using recycled materials, and here we are.

My first pair of vintage, recycled, ornate, unique earrings with a story. I'm so freakin' excited.

I love the thought that I am using pieces of history in my design. Somewhere along the line, these frames held pictures. Pictures are stories. Who knows what stories these frames could tell?

And the fact that I am using old frames, makes me feel so good. I'm doing my part in recycling. I'm not buying new merchandise. I'm reusing.

And, since I'm one of those people that attaches human qualities to things, I feel like I'm "saving" these frames. Giving them new life. And second chances. And we all know how I feel about second chances!

With each pair, I create a story. Each story is unique. Each story carries with it a piece of me. One of my "moments". A moment I have framed.

But, then it can be your frame. You can fill it as you see fit. I'll share one of my framed "moments" with you, in hopes you will frame a moment too. And maybe even share it with me? I'd be happy to blog about you "moment", here.

Each pair, is one of a kind. When it's gone, it's gone. Just like a moment.

My first pair was just listed, and is in my Etsy shop.....

She thought to herself, I want to stay in this moment forever. If only I could place myself and the moment inside a bubble, an unbreakable bubble, I would. For in this moment, I have hope.

Ingredients: Vintage, recycled frame "beads"(handcrafted by me), brass wires, and vintage Miriam Haskell beads.

PS. I used a power tool!!!

The Flowers Could Not Be Carried Away Print

She packed up the memories. The evidence. The reminders. And she carried them all to the curb. She grabbed her hot cup of coffee and sat by the window, waiting. Waiting to watch the boxes get tossed into the back of the sanitation truck and be carried away.

And as she waited, she thought of all the moments her mind held that she wished she could put in those boxes and watch get carried away. And she thought maybe, if she tried really hard, she could wish those moments into the cardboard boxes before that Monday morning garbage pick up came.

But the flowers. Oh those flowers. The flowers she had saved from the begining. Those pretty little buds that encased so much of the world she thought she had. She had dried them so perfectly. Just right.

It took her years to discover why she wouldn't let the flowers be carried away. It was because those flowers resembled her heart. Dried up, flattened and squeezed between pages of the chapters in her life.

The flowers were all she had left of her heart.

Can't Remember Being There Print

He said she was fun. Adventurous. Strong and vibrant. He said she was bold. Witty. Carefree and spontaneous.

She's seen the pictures. She's heard the stories. But, she can't remember being there.

Out to Save You

Out To save You
Originally uploaded by nejellaphotoart2009

When Tom and I got married, I did a lot of the writing that went into the cermony. In one reading, I wrote about what Love Is, and I thought it was pretty specific to our relationship. But, when I look back now, I realize it's actually very universal.

This piece uses one of the lines that I wrote about love.

It was my way of saying, even if the world chews us up(which it totally has been doing lately), we will pick up each other pieces and cheer each other on.

And we do that, daily.

I think that if you have a least one person who believes in you know matter what, you have a reason to hope. And hope can lead you to some wonderful places.

I Cry All Sorts of Tears
