You can be with someone, and be lonely. Just because someone is with you physically, does not mean they are with you emotionally. And that type of lonelyness can leave you feeling bitter and sad.
Just because your alone, doesn't mean your lonely. Your not sitting on the couch next to someone who isn't there. The reality of it is, there is no one there, and therefore you not feeling their presence makes sense.
And now that your alone, you have a chance at finding someone who you won't feel alone with.
