I've recently started playing with gel mediums. I'm in love. I can't get enough of the texture. The non-perfection I find in them. It changes paint in a way I didn't know existed.
Last week, I bought some mini canvas at the craft store. I gave them two coats of gesso and then painted them with black paint. And added tar gel.
It took me a while to get it to the consistency I wanted as I haven't done this before. I was trying to "frame" a picture of my nanny and a picture of my mom from years back(the pictures I framed in artist tape before I painted).
Here is the result.
There is a trillion thinks you can do with gel medium but these, I thought, were better kept simple. It draws your eyes right to the pictures. And I love these pictures.
This mini canvas blocks are great too. You can put them on a wall easily, or use them as they are, and put them on a shelf.
Crackle medium is on the way from Joggles!
Sometimes the best part of making stuff, is the discovery.
